High-bay Warehouse for Hanging Garments
5 aisles, 12,600 locations and approx. 300,000 SKUs: The new high-bay warehouse for hanging garments is a high performer. Both current high-bay warehouses for hanging garments in Germany were designed and introduced by Pierau Planung. The new high-bay warehouse at Walbusch’ with a total height of almost 26 meters sets new standards in efficient storage of hanging garments.

All in the Bag!
The hanging garment process is fully automated. In detail, this means that goods are automatically lain flat and packaged in a bag which is then hung. Shirts for instance can be processed this way. The introduction of a new adapter sorter increased the performance to 6,000 items per hour. The sorter that had been used before this modernization programme had only a quarter of this performance.

Automation of Various Processes

The new system is complemented by a range of modernization and extension measures within the existing building e.g. doubling the packing performance and capacity. More processes were fully automated such as labeling and separation of hanging garments.

The Walbusch team consists of 750 employees at sites in Solingen (Germany), Bregenz (Austria) and Widnau (Switzerland). In addition to their traditional catalogue business Walbusch started developing a network of regional stores in 2009.
